I know the sun must set to rise

This is really interesting:

The words “quiet” and “docile” are often attached to descriptions of the Virgin Mary and described as virtues in Christian life, but, theologically, they don’t exactly mean what contemporary English speakers tend to think.

This is Saint Silvan. He died in 350 AD. His body was never preserved, but for some odd reason it doesn’t decay.

it’s really not that unusual in the Catholic Church

I got this tattoo because I love blackwork tattoos, and plan on getting more. This being the first I thought I would go with the most bold. A reverse cross, to symbolize my distaste with religion, and my overall rebellion against it.

I feel bad for you because an upside down cross is in fact the cross of Saint Peter, the first pope. He asked to be crucified on a cross upside down because he wasn’t worthy enough to die the same way as Jesus did. So your symbol to show your disdain of religion is actually showing respect to God.

People who get tattoos they don’t fully understand deserve to live with the results

yea it’s on the Pope’s chair

St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Christ’s Church Cathedral in Dublin Ireland.

These two Cathedrals, once Catholic Cathedrals of Dublin, were stolen while Elizabeth I was attempting to convert Ireland to the Anglican church. Her attempts failed at the time and the Irish people remained Catholic, however, she was able to take the two Cathedrals and turn them into Anglican churches. To this day they are no longer Catholic Cathedrals, but the church recognizes them as stolen property, and so they have not built a new Cathedral in Dublin because of this. So although there are countless Catholic churches in the city, there is still no main cathedral.
